Pastor’s Column

As we turn the calendar to November, we turn our hearts and our minds towards a season of Thanksgiving. Retailers want to move us from Halloween straight into Christmas, but we do well to pause and reflect on the many ways that we have been blessed – both in our personal lives and in the life of our church. In I Thessalonians 5:16-18 we read, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” This doesn’t mean that we deny our difficulties and struggles, or pretend that our lives our perfect. It means we remember that God walks with us every day, providing peace and joy that can only come from God. For this I am deeply grateful, and this is my prayer for each of us and all of us this Thanksgiving season.

This will be a busy season in the life of the church.  I hope that you will be able to help with the Family Fun Night and Trunk or Treat this Saturday, October 28th, and with the Church Bazaar on Saturday, November 4th.  Volunteers are needed at both events, as well as donations for the bazaar. Also, please plan to participate in the Town Hall on November 12th after church and plan to join us for our annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, November 19th –it will be a great evening of feasting and fellowship.

As always, it’s an honor and a joy to be on the journey with you, Tracy
