Pastor’s Column

What a joy it has been to be your pastor for the last 3.5+ years. As I shared in worship, my last Sunday with you will be July 27th, and it will be a bitter-sweet day for me.  I recently told the deacons that although I have done a number of preaching interims, this is the first time I have really had the opportunity to be both preacher and pastor for a congregation. It has been an honor to visit in your homes, to pray with you in hospitals and rehab centers, to dedicate babies, baptize growing believers, and walk with you through the loss of loved ones. I am grateful for deep friendships that will continue for years to come.

Church family, you have worked hard during this interim time, remembering who you have been, assessing where you are now, and discerning God’s initiatives for the future. You are embracing Building for Hope, you are moving forward in ministry, and you are open to how God will continue to lead. You are well positioned to welcome a new pastor to walk with you into the exciting days ahead.

Thank you for the many ways that you have welcomed me, Jay and especially Missy.

You have walked with us and prayed us through some challenging times in our own lives, and we are grateful. We will carry fond memories of SCC with us and we look forward to returning to visit in the days ahead. Please look us up whenever you find yourselves in Richmond.

It has been a joy to be on the journey with you,

Tracy, Jay and Missy
