MARCH AND LENT

My Dear Friends,

The arrival of the month of March, with its wind and fury, also signals that the holy season of Lent is upon us.

I like to look at Lent as an appropriate way to prepare for Easter Sunday. During Lent we ponder the brevity of life, we think about our sins (and confess them), and we meditate on the long and treacherous journey Jesus traveled on his way to Jerusalem and to the cross.

Each Wednesday during Lent our community churches will be offering brief worship services at noon. The 30 minute service is followed by a complimentary soup and sandwich luncheon so that we can fellowship with our sisters and brothers. I hope you will avail yourselves of those services to the greatest extent possible.

During the season of Lent I would like to offer a series of sermons from the book of Romans. This book is probably St. Paul’s masterpiece of setting forth our beliefs as Christians. It is not always easy reading, but it is full of life, hope, and promise. I hope you can join us!

Come among us and we will do you good . . . Everyone is welcome here!

Love, Michael
