October 2023 Blog

Thank you to Priscilla and the Board of Christian Education for organizing our First Responders lunch, and thanks to everyone who helped make the day such a great success. Many hands truly made light work as we honored those who serve our community each and every day. I am grateful for your commitment to this important event!

The fall will be a busy and important time in the life of our church.  Our fall conference will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, October 25th in the West Memorial classroom.  In addition to reports, we will vote on the new constitution.  Please plan to be present for this important meeting.

Please make plans to join us for our Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat on October 29th and for the Fall Bazaar on Saturday November 4th. These are great ways for us to be present in our community and welcome our neighbors to Suffolk Christian Church. Please see the articles in this newsletter and/or reach out to Priscilla for more information and to volunteer.

Please mark your calendars for Sunday, November 12th and plan to attend the Potluck Lunch and Town Hall meeting after worship. When we did the series of Town Hall meetings last year, we identified four areas where we believe God is calling us to focus moving forward: becoming more involved in our local schools and with the homeless in our community, beginning an alternative worship service, and growing our fellowship. At that time, we felt it would be good to wait until the new, permanent pastor was in place to help develop these initiatives. Despite the hard work of the pastor search team and due to a nation-wide shortage of pastoral candidates, the pastor search process is taking longer than anticipated. Therefore, we are going to get started on developing these initiatives now. Please be praying and thinking about where you would like to serve – working together, we will help usher the church into a thriving and vibrant future. I look forward to seeing you on the 12th! In the meantime, I’m on the journey with you,

Tracy
